I completely agree with the protester shown here. Women are multidimensional people. We should not be defined by just one role in our lives. We are much more than that. I've told people for years that I was born a decade too late. I know, hands down, I would have been a bra burner. You can ask my boyfriend how often I complain about bras. What a stupid invention. (Genie Bras on the other hand... lol) So last night, we were flipping through stations trying to find something to … [read more]

What is a Woman? I feel like we need to have a discussion here. Seriously. We are at a place and time in history that everyone is trying to define the word woman. Here is my answer: A woman is a human being that has a vagina or a person who identifies with people who have a vagina. It's really pretty simple. It’s 2012 and close to four years after the Lilly ledbetter Fair Pay Act was signed into law. Surely, the gender wage gap has been closed, right? Wrong. Last night, for whatever subconscious reason, I had a dream/nightmare that I was attending a drinking establishment with my boyfriend and when we reached the door the bouncer tells me "NO WOMEN ALLOWED." When I woke up the idea of this haunted me nearly all day. I was thinking about the women of prohibition. Maybe it wasn't all about being anti-alcohol but that they were ticked they weren't invited to the party. So fast forward in the happenings of today. My boyfriend and I both live in … [read more]

International Women's Day is March 8, 2012. According to WeAreEquals.org: International Women’s Day (March 8) is a big, beautiful celebration of women’s strengths and achievements. It’s honoured in many different ways around the world. It’s lauded by women’s groups, and the date is commemorated at the United Nations. In China and 14 other countries, people get the day off work; in Bosnia and Italy women are given flowers by their brothers, husbands and fathers; and in Cameroon, … [read more]

Ya'll need to watch this video. This womanly woman Nancy really taught American Apparel a lesson! I COMPLETELY agree with everything she has to say in this clip from The Today Show. I also think Ann Curry handled the interview very well. br /centerbr /object width="480" height="270"param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/yZxjnWlAiqZ5gng21THa6A"/paramparam name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/paramembed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/yZxjnWlAiqZ5gng21THa6A" … [read more]
